2009 Jr. NBA Philippines Presented By Hi-Smart Multivitamins
Key Messages

• The Jr. NBA program marks the continuous dedication of the NBA, Hi-Smart Multivitamins and the NBA’s partners to Filipino youth basketball development.

• This is the third consecutive Jr. NBA program and this year, the program expands from National Capital Region and Visayas to Davao.

• The program will reach over 300 schools, benefiting over 30,000 students, parents and coaches nationwide.

• The Jr. NBA program is a unique youth basketball development program:
o It keeps expanding every year, i.e. from 16 schools in Manila in 2007 to 200 schools in the National Capital Region and Visayas in 2008, and in 2009, reaches over 300 schools nationwide;
o It is fun and motivating;
o It is a combination of basketball, fitness and nutrition;
o It emphasizes the “S.T.A.R.” values (Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Positive Attitudes and Respect) that helps prepare the participants for success both on and off the court.
o It encourages the participation of parents and school coaches by providing support to their kids/students.
o Through the NBA Cares activities, it encourages participants to give back to their communities.

o Duration: January 16 to April 18, 2009.
o Age range of participants: 12 to 14.
o Coaches: Jr. NBA Coach Frank Lopez, and PBA Legends and Jr. NBA-appointed coaches.
o Entry fee: Free.
o Registration: Through event website or go to the school PE teaches/basketball coaches for inquiry.
o No. of stages: 3 (School Program, Regional Selection Camps and National Training Camp.
o Reward: 8 best players of the National Training Camp will be selected as the Jr. NBA Philippine All-Star Team.
