Anflocor, www.express win
The Antonio Floirendo Group of Companies (Anflocor) and www.express beat separate rivals last Sunday in the Inter-Company division of the Orange Generation Cup basketball tournament at the Emcor Sports Center.
Anflocor defeated Davao Security and Investigation Agency (Dasia), 75-62, while www.express nipped Emcor, 66-60.
It was a seesaw game in the first three quarters between Anflocor and Dasia with the game tied at 15-all in the first canto. Anflocor then took a slim lead, 33-31 in the second quarter then widened it, 51-49 in the third quarter.
Skipper Sherwin Santos hit eight of his 10 points in the final canto as Anflocor made a 23-13 run to post its first win in the league organized by the Evangelista Aquatic and Sports Management Inc. and initiated by the Multi-sectoral Organization of Volunteer Entrepreneurs (Move).
Rey Aranaydo topscored for Anflocor with 26 points, 12 made in the first half, while Arnel Pasiola added 17. Jessie Montes led Dasia with 13 points followed by Hubert Cesar and Sergio Presbitero with 11 and 10, respectively.
Earlier, www.express also exploded in the final quarter, 23-16 after a seesaw match. The score was tied at 30-all before www.express finally stepped on the gas and never looked back.
Merwin Ramos led www.express with 16 points, while Patricio Bustamante and Gilbert Aquino added 15 and 10.
