Ian Mazo scored 16 of his 25 points in the third quarter as Black
Water Perfume rallied from a poor start and toppled Freego Jeans,
104-81, Thursday for its second straight victory in the PBA D-League
Foundation Cup at the Emilio Aguinaldo College gym.

The 6-foot-3 swingman went 7 of 9 in the quarter, most with hands on
his face, to cap a blistering rally by the Elite rallied from 14-point
deficit in the second quarter. Mazo, who shot 11 of 17 for the game,
also had five assists, two steals and one block.

Andrian Celeda contributed 23 points and Gerald Lapuz added 13 for
Black Water, which improved to 2-1 (win-loss) record that earned them
a first-place tie in Group A alongside Pharex, NLEX and PC Gilmore.
Freego Jeans fell to 0-3.

“Medyo nangapa sa umpisa. Pero nung na-pickup na yung rhythm naming
tuloy-tuloy na. Malaking bagay yung panalo namin against Pacific
Pipes. It really boosted the players’ confidence” said Black Water
coach Leo Isaac.

Freego Jeans appeared in control when it opened a 38-24 advantage on a
layup by Jerick Canada at the 7:24 mark of the second quarter.

But the Elite’s pressure defense held the Falcons to just 3 of 7
shooting the rest of the quarter while going on a 25-12 run to make it
a one-point game at halftime.

Then Mazo took over.

After Gio Ciriacruz scored off the glass, Mazo went on a shooting
clinic as Black Water opened the third with a 25-10 run from which the
Falcons never recovered.

Lester Alvarez scored 17 points to show the way for Freego Jeans,
which gave up 29 points on 19 turnovers. Julius Colina and Roider
Cabrera added 16 apiece while Eric Camson had 15.
