FIBA-SBP referees clinic up

Lubomor Kotleba, sports director of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), is conducting a clinic for international referees on Sept. 17 and 18 at the Philsports Complex in Pasig City.

Organized by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Inc. through its technical commission, the historic clinic will identify potential candidates, who will undergo a series of tests set by FIBA, for inclusion in the pool of prestigious international referees.

Beefing up the SBP pool of international referees is also another goal of the clinic.

"Those current and former international referees and new candidates duly endorsed by SBP regional directors all over the country are welcome and encouraged to participate in this FIBA clinic," said Perry Martinez, SBP technical committee chairman.

As a refresher course for those interested in attending the Kotelba clinic, the SBP technical commission will be conducting a two-day seminar on Sept. 11 and 12.

"This refresher course shall be used as a basis to determine the preparedness of our Philippine candidates" Martinez said.

For details, call the SBP office at 706-2969 and 706-2970 and look for Jennifer Ann Hernandez for registration.
